Twitter Music Coming Soon

twittermusicTwitter is on the brink of debuting its music service. Celebrities including Blake Shelton and Ryan Seacrest have already been given the Twitter music app, and tweeted that they are using it. News outlets including The New York Times reported that the service may be available only to music tastemakers in the early phases of roll out.

A web page posted Friday (April 12) invites users to sign in. Once clicked, it reads:

Authorize Twitter #music web to use your account? music.twitter.com. The best new music in the world right now. This application will be able to: Read Tweets from your timeline. See who you follow, and follow new people. Update your profile. Post Tweets for you.

Overall, Twitter music is expected to spur music discovery by sharing the listening habits of its 200 million users.

On Thursday, Twitter officially announced the purchase of We Are Hunted, which recommends new music based on social media conversation.
