Suzy Bogguss Revisits 1991 Album With New ‘Aces Redux’

Suzy Bogguss Aces Redux

Suzy Bogguss‘ breakthrough on country radio came in 1991 with her Capitol Nashville project Aces. The album was certified platinum and landed Bogguss four radio singles, including “Outbound Plane,” “Someday Soon,” “Aces,” and “Letting Go.” The project also parted from the typical album model at the time, in that Bogguss co-produced Aces.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Aces, the singer-songwriter has re-recorded the album with some of Nashville’s top players in her latest offering, Aces Redux. The album will release Thursday (Aug. 18), the same day Bogguss will play at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley.

“I love to play the radio hits from Aces every night,” she says, “but in truth, every single song on that record gets requested at my live shows. So for the first time in awhile I went back and listened to the album start to finish. The songs are timeless, but over the past 25 years I feel like I’ve grown as a vocalist, and when we started recording Aces Redux I got so excited because these songs took on a whole new life that is more representative of who I am and what I do now.”

The 3rd & Lindsley show will begin with Bogguss playing the Aces album in its entirety, followed by a brief intermission, and a second set including her other career hits and songs from her latest albums, Lucky (a collection of songs penned by Merle Haggard) and American Folk Songbook.
