Nominees Revealed for 2014 Americana Honors & Awards

Host and artist Elizabeth Cook presented the nominees for the 2014 Americana Honors & Awards today (May 12) during an event at SiriusXM Music City Theatre in downtown Nashville. Also on hand for the event were performers Jim Lauderdale and band leader Buddy Miller, whose acoustic quartet backed Valerie June, Parker Milsap, and Hurray For The Riff Raff. Cook concluded the program by joining Miller and the band for a duet of “Burning the Midnight Oil,” a popular record by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner.

Rosanne Cash was among the top nominees this year. Cash’s The River and the Thread is nominated for Album of the Year. She is nominated for Artist of the Year, as well as Song of the Year for “A Feather’s Not A Bird.”

Fellow Artist of the Year nominee Jason Isbell‘s Southeastern is also up for Album of the Year, and his song “Cover Me Up,” received a nod for Song of the Year.

Robert Ellis is nominated for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Only Lies,” and Album of the Year for The Lights From The Chemical Plant.

Performers during the presentation Hurray For The Riff Raff, Valerie June, and Parker Milsap are all nominated for Emerging Act of the Year, alongside St. Paul & The Broken Bones, and Sturgill Simpson.

Duo/Group of the Year nominees are The Avett Brothers, The Devil Makes Three, Hard Working Americans, The Milk Carton Kids, and Lake Street Drive.
