Kevin Welch demonstrated the power of a solo-write as his wholly-penned song “Millionaire” takes him to No. 1 on the MusicRow Top Songwriter Chart this week. With all of the points going entirely to Welch from the Chris Stapleton hit, this week marks a rare occurrence that the No. 1 slot has featured a songwriter with only one song on the MusicRow songwriter chart.
Kane Brown soared from No. 27 to No. 7 with the help from “Homesick,” “Good As You” and “Lose It.” Brown’s co-writer for the latter two, Tape Room Music and Warner/Chappell’s Will Weatherly, moves up into the top 10 from No. 36.
The weekly MusicRow Top Songwriter Chart, published every week, uses algorithms based upon song activity according to airplay, digital downloaded track sales and streams. This unique and exclusive recent addition to the MusicRow portfolio is the only songwriter chart of its kind.
