Lucian Grainge To Lead UMG Global Until At Least 2020

In it’s five-year development plan for Universal Music Group (UMG), Vivendi announced UMG Chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge has signed on until at least 2020.

A five-year development plan was agreed with the senior management of UMG said to:

“Accelerate the monetization of music on digital channels, broaden the reach of its audio and visual content through multiple partnerships with platforms and strengthen its strategic relationships with brands and sponsors. It will pursue its industry-leading track record of talent management and development. UMG will also continue investing in high-potential markets for music, such as Africa, India and China.”

Grainge was appointed to his current position in 2011, holding a variety of functions within the music industry spanning over thirty years. After joining UMG in 1986 to launch PolyGram Music Publishing UK, Lucian Grainge held the positions of Chairman of Universal Music UK and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UMG International. He spearheaded the international expansion of UMG and diversification.

Present in over 60 countries and owning a portfolio of 50 labels, UMG has an annual turnover of nearly $5.4 billion and employs over 7,000 people in the world.

UMG Nashville is led by Chairman/CEO Mike Dungan and home to Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Mickey Guyton, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Jon Pardi, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Joey Hyde, Brothers Osborne, Kelleigh Bannen, Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Eric Paslay, Haley Georgia, Lauren Alaina, Easton Corbin, Billy Currington, Julianne Hough, Scotty McCreery, Kacey Musgraves, Canaan Smith, Chris Stapleton, Sugarland, Shania Twain, Gary Allan, Vince Gill, Kip Moore, David Nail, George Strait, Josh Turner, Sam Hunt, and Clare Dunn. It also offers distribution services for labels including Big Machine.
