Loveless Barn Hosts “Pa’s Fiddle” Tribute Concert

The songs loved by Charles “Pa” Ingalls from the Little House on the Prairie series of books by Laura Ingalls Wilder will be celebrated by some of country music’s favorite artists with “Pa’s Fiddle: America’s Music,” a special concert on Friday, January 6 at the Loveless Barn. The show is being taped for broadcast on PBS stations during June.

Artists performing at the event include musical director Randy Scruggs, Randy Travis, Rodney Atkins, Ronnie Milsap, Ashton Shepherd, The Roys, Natalie Grant and NBC’s Sing Off champions Committed. Rounding out the all-star string band will be Matt Combs, Dennis Crouch, Chad Cromwell, Hoot Hester and Shad Cobb.

To coincide with the show, Pa’s Fiddle Recordings will release an album titled Pa’s Fiddle: American Fiddler on June 5. Included on the CD are “Buffalo Gals,” “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” “Polly Put The Kettle On,” and more performed by Bryan Sutton, Matt Flinner, Matt Combs, David Grier, Jeff Taylor, Dennis Crouch and others. Pre-order here.

Dean Butler (“Almanzo” from the Little House tv show) and Pa’s Fiddle Recordings President Dale Cockrell have teamed to produce the event, which aims to spotlight the musical influence of 19th century fiddler Pa Ingalls through modern interpretations of his favorite songs. Ingalls’ musical tastes and talents were documented by his daughter Laura in the autobiographical Little House series, and his fiddle hangs in the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home & Museum in Mansfield, Mo.
