Pandora Challenge Visits MTSU

MTSU was one of five universities selected nationwide to participate in the latest Pandora Challenge: Music and Social Impact program. MTSU Recording Industry students worked with music executives to create a social media campaign on behalf of indie-rock group Manchester Orchestra.

“I am honored that Real Industry chose MTSU students to participate in their program. It will provide our students with real-world experience and exposure to data and best practices that they might otherwise receive,” said Beverly Keel, chair of MTSU’s Department of Recording Industry.

Other colleges selected were the University of Southern California, New York University, the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Stanford University.

The first annual Mempho Music Festival was held last weekend (Oct. 6 and 7) at Shelby Park Farms in Memphis, Tenn. The two-day event featured 25 bands performing on two stages both Friday and Saturday night and included top-name headliners Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Cage the Elephant, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Bishop Briggs, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Hard Working Americans, The Weeks and more.

 

Academy of Country Music Welcomes Charlie Worsham for a Visit

The Academy of Country Music welcomed Warner Music Nashville recording artist Charlie Worsham to the office while he was in Los Angeles recently. While at the Academy, Worsham performed “Old Time’s Sake,” as well as an array of acoustic renditions from his current album, Beginning of Things.

Deluge Music Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

Deluge Music recently celebrated its two-year anniversary. The boutique publishing company was formed in 2015 by publishing veteran Mark Friedman, label exec David Robkin and manager Larry Mazer and has offices in Nashville and Los Angeles.
