Last week, The ASCAP Foundation Country Songwriters Workshop, part of an ongoing series designed to focus on the development and education of promising new Country music songwriters, took place at the ASCAP offices in Nashville. Conducted by longtime ASCAP member and veteran songwriter Darrell Brown (“You’ll Think Of Me,” “Raining On Sunday” – Keith Urban, “Why Don’t We Just Dance” – Josh Turner), the sessions provided advice on the art and craft of successful songwriting techniques, as well as information on important business-related topics including A&R and music publishing.

The 2014 Girl Scout Luncheon was held at the Music City Center on September 15 and featured Grammy and CMA Award Winning Country Vocalist Lee Ann Womack. The luncheon raised funds to support more than 13,000 Girl Scouts throughout the 39 counties of Middle Tennessee.

The Academy of Country Music welcomed Arista Nashville recording artists The Swon Brothers to the office while they were in Los Angeles recently. While at the Academy, they performed their first Top 15 hit “Later On” as well as “Pray For You,” the new single from their self-titled major-label debut album released earlier this week.
