creative nation111Publishing company Creative Nation will partner with inner-city not-for-profit organization Preston Taylor Ministries to present a benefit concert.Songwriters Luke Laird, Barry Dean, Natalie Hemby, Maggie Chapman, Native Run, and MamaDear will perform at Puckett’s Downtown (500 Church Street) on May 29. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.

The ticket price of $50 includes dinner and admission to the show, with all proceeds going to benefit the children of Preston Taylor Ministries. To reserve a seat in advance, call 615-770-2772.

ISC logo 2013The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has announced the winners for its 2013 contest. The ISC grand prize was awarded to Irvine, California songwriter Joshua Hanson (Yellow Red Sparks), for his folk song “Monsters With Misdemeanors.”

The Grand Prize includes $25,000 US cash and over $40,000 US in merchandise and services.The competition received over 20,000 entries from 119 countries.The winners were chosen by a prestigious panel of celebrity and industry judges including Tom Waits, Nas, Bernie Taupin, Robert Smith (The Cure), Tegan and Sara, McCoy Tyner, Martina McBride, John Mayall, Monte Lipman (President, Universal Republic Records), and many others.

aes logo111Nashville Mayor Karl Dean has joined the Nashville Section of the Audio Engineering Society in recognizing “Nashville Audio Engineer Week”, May 12 – 18, to coincide with the Nashville Recording Workshop +Expo and AudioMasters Benefit Golf Tournament events taking place that same week.

Nashville will again play host to attendees of two major professional audio industry events, which begins May 14 and 15 with the 4th Annual Nashville Recording Workshop +Expo. This annual event features practical presentations, workshops, and exhibits of pro audio equipment, and is designed for engineers working in home studios and top recording facilities.
