Twitter and Facebook are making moves so that users can make purchases without leaving their respective sites or apps.
Twitter is acquiring CardSpring, a payments infrastructure company. Twitter already offers users the ability to claim deals, and add items to an online shopping cart directly from a Tweet.
Facebook is testing a new feature to help businesses drive sales through the News Feed and on Pages. With this feature, people on desktop or mobile can click the “Buy” call-to-action button on ads and Page posts to purchase a product directly from a business, without leaving Facebook.
