Dolly Parton accepted a special No. 1 plaque backstage at a sold-out show at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles earlier this month. Her new project, Pure & Simple, is her first album to debut at No. 1 on the country chart in the 25-year history of Nielsen/Soundscan.
She accepted the plaque from Randy Goodman, Chairman & CEO, Sony Music Nashville. The label group partnered with Dolly Records to release the album in August. She performed at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 1 and 2.
Parton will resume her tour on Nov. 15 with a show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
