CMA posthumously awarded Country Music Hall of Famer Merle Haggard with the 2016 Joe Talbot Award, presenting the award to Haggard’s widow, Theresa Haggard. The Joe Talbot Award recognizes outstanding leadership and contributions to the preservation and advancement of country music’s values and traditions.

The award was presented last week at a reception where Bill and Shannon Miller, founders of Icon Entertainment Group, announced they’ll open a Haggard-focused museum in Nashville next summer.
