Lady Antebellum played their first hometown headlining show in Augusta, Ga on Nov. 15. The trio, including Nashville’s Hillary Scott and Augusta natives Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, performed two sold-out shows. The sold-out acoustic midday show at the Bell Auditorium raised nearly $15,000 for the MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center.

The trio received multiple honors from the community of Augusta, including a newly designed 6-7,000 capacity amphitheater to be named the Lady Antebellum Pavilion. They also presented three teachers from Kelley and Haywood’s former high school with $1,000 each in school supplies from OfficeMax on behalf of the national “A Day Made Better” school advocacy campaign founded to erase teacher-funded classrooms.

Lady A wraps the Need You Now 2010 tour tomorrow (11/20) in Kansas City, Mo.

Aaron Tippin is now preparing to head overseas for his ninth consecutive year of entertaining our nation’s troops and families stationed away from home. First, he will perform in a Thanksgiving show in Iraq. He then returns to the States only to make a quick turnaround for his very first visit to Japan, where he will deliver a Christmas performance in Okinawa for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Hansen.

“I know it’s customary to spend time with my wife, Thea, and the kids, and sometimes, it’s hard to go. But to share my gratitude (and the heartfelt thankfulness of our family) with the men and women serving our country, that’s an absolute honor and a gift in itself–to perform for them during the holidays, a time when they miss being home the most. I can bring a little piece of ‘home’ to them,” Tippin added.

On Veterans’ Day, Tippin joined the staffers of Southwest Airlines at the Operation Freedom Bird program. Each year, Operation Freedom Bird selects a group of 50 veterans who take a journey to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Tippin made a special stop in Phoenix, AZ—the program’s origin—to pay tribute to the veterans with an acoustic performance.
