There’s a new team running the Sound Emporium. Chad Shinn recently signed on as Pres. and CEO of the famed studio. His father George Shinn, the former owner of NBA franchise the New Orleans Hornets, purchased the studio from longtime owner Garth Fundis. The hitmaking producer had owned the recording space since 1992.
Chad Shinn brought back former studio manager Juanita Copeland to serve as General Manager, and tapped Grammy winner Matt Andrews as Chief Engineer.
“We are about helping our clients feel at home and create a great product, not matter what their budget,” says Copeland. “The vibe of a studio is so very important and we feel we have the best vibe and staff in town. I am so excited to be back home and helping clients make musical magic!”
The Shinns have remodeled the studio on Belmont Boulevard, which was originally built in 1969 by Cowboy Jack Clement.
When George Shinn relocated to Nashville, he purchased the studio as a way to embrace his new community, and also give the musicians in his family a place to record.
