Spotify Includes Hulu In New Premium Bundle

Spotify has created a new bundle with Hulu as part of Spotify’s premium membership offerings, expanding the partnership between the two companies. In addition to Spotify’s 40-million songs and podcasts, premium Spotify members can now access Hulu’s 85,000+ episodes of television and movie content.

“Today is the first time that we’re offering a Hulu plan to the masses as part of their $9.99 Spotify Premium subscription,” Marc Hazan, Spotify’s vice president/ global head of premium business development said. “As we push towards making Spotify Premium a gateway to a bigger world of entertainment, we’re fully committed to finding new ways to enhance the overall experience for our Premium users and this is just the beginning.”

The new bundle is available to all Spotify Premium individual users at no additional cost (including new and current users), and includes Hulu’s ad-supported tier. The offer is available until June 10, 2019. new subscribers receive the first 30 days free of charge.

Spotify users who paid for last year’s $12.99 bundle will be discounted to the $9.99 price.

Spotify is one of several companies, including Google, Amazon and Pandora, which recently filed a notice of appeal for the Copyright Royalty Board’s recently-issued final rates and terms for songwriter mechanical royalties, which determine the price labels and digital services should pay music publishers. The notice of appeal sparked a backlash from several well-known members of Nashville’s songwriting community, prompting the company to issue a blog post explaining their position.
