Daron Norwood
Nineties country artist Daron Norwood has passed away.
The Lubbock native who was signed to Giant Records was best known for his Top 40 hits “Cowboys Don’t Cry,” “If I Ever Love Again,” and “If It Wasn’t For Her, I Wouldn’t Have You.” He released two albums in the ’90s; 1993’s Daron Norwood, and 1995’s Ready, Willing and Able.
He elected to leave the business in 1995 because he was battling severe alcohol addiction.
Norwood got sober in 2005 according to a report on eonline.com, and he and wife Kim founded Keep It Straight, an organization to help warn children about the dangers of substance abuse.
He was found dead in his Hereford, Texas apartment yesterday (July 22). Investigators say foul play is not suspected in Norwood’s death. He was 49.
