CMA Awards Win Night For ABC

cma awards sliderLast night (Nov. 5) The 48th Annual CMA Awards drew 16.1 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. This is on par with its year-ago telecast, which attracted 16.8 million viewers on Nov. 6, 2013.

In the coveted 18-49 demographic, the show scored 4.5 rating/14 share, down slightly from last year’s 4.7 in the same demo, according to Zap2it.com.

The show won every half-hour for the ABC network.

The CMA Awards broadcast won in total viewers, all key adult demos (ages 18-34/ages 18-49/ages 25-54), teens 12-17, and kids 2-11. In viewers and young adults, it was the network’s strongest performance on any night with entertainment programming since the Academy Awards on March 2. Ratings were up for the second year in teens 12-17 (+4 percent) and kids 2-11 (+19 percent) to its best numbers since 2011.

The 48th Annual CMA Awards was Wednesday’s most-social broadcast with 1,043,707 Tweets.

Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen. Source: The Nielsen Company, Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings for 11/05/14.
