Incentives offered by the state of Tennessee are key to keeping production of the show Nashville in Music City. But since ABC has yet to pick up the drama for a third season, incentives have not been built in to the state budget. The budget could be approved before ABC makes a decision this spring, according to The Tennessean. As previously reported, renewal or cancellation is expected before May.
Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development spokeswoman Laura Elkins told the newspaper, “We look forward to ‘Nashville’ being picked up for a third season and making an incentive offer at that time.”
According to The Tennessean, for the show’s current second season, it is expected to receive $13.5 million in combined incentives from the state, Metro, and Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. Nashville’s budget is about $106 million, with $69 million of that expected to be spent in Tennessee.
