Scotty McCreery has set out on a six-city Major League Baseball tour (full dates below) in support of youth programs. The appearances come in anticipation of the singer’s sophomore album, See You Tonight, to be released Oct. 15.

The former high school pitcher will donate a total of $50,000 to various youth baseball programs throughout the year, including RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 29, at the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, the singer presented a personal $5,000 check to a Tampa youth baseball organization before the game. In addition, he threw out the first pitch and sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Local radio winners will be invited to each stop in addition to CD promotions for audience members before the former American Idol winner sings as part of the seventh-inning stretch and serves as a guest broadcaster.

“I learned some of my greatest lessons playing sports and being a team member,” McCreery says. “Sports teach you so many life lessons about self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, setting goals, and being fit.”

RBI youth outreach program has encouraged more than 1 million under-served youth both academically and otherwise, including more than 220,000 baseball and softball players in 2013. In promotion of McCreery’s forthcoming release, the new video for his current single, “See You Tonight,” premiered yesterday (Sept. 5). Fans can pre-order the album here.
