song factory logoNashville-based company The Song Factory has added six new songwriters to the roster, including Bart Butler (cuts with Dierks Bentley, Mark Wills, Thomas Rhett and others), Dillon Carmichael, Olivia Rudeen, Nathan Christopher, Terry Lee Palmer (guitar player for Jon Pardi since earlier this year, Palmer signed a publishing co-venture with Pardi and the Song Factory), and Larry McCoy. McCoy has had cuts with Rhett, James Wesley, Ray Stevens, and recently signed a co-publishing deal with Bill Butler Music and the Song Factory.

RIAASeveral artists have been awarded certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America this month. Florida Georgia Line‘s “Cruise” has picked up a 4x platinum certification. Tim McGraw has earned another platinum-selling single with “Highway Don’t Care,” featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban (guitar). Luke Bryan‘s second album, Doin’ My Thing, has earned him his second platinum album award; his new song “Crash My Party,” has also been certified gold this month. Pistol Annies‘ debut album, Hell on Heels, has been certified gold. Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson‘s Greatest Hits–Chapter One has been certified gold.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum recently honored Sonny Throckmorton in its quarterly series Poets and Prophets: Legendary Country Songwriters. Throckmorton’s songwriting credits include “If We’re Not Back in Love by Monday,” “The Cowboy Rides Away,” “Why Not Me” and “Middle Age Crazy.”

bill haleyVeteran record promotions executive David Haley is preparing to return to his homestate of Mississippi to be closer to family. Family and friends have put together a retirement party for Haley, slated for Monday, July 29 from 5:30 p.m until 7:30 p.m. at Nashville’s Winners Bar & Grill. Haley’s career has included promotion executive roles with Warner Bros., MCA, Equity, Tenacity and Instigator.

Chaley Rose

Actress Chaley Rose will join the cast of Nashville. She will portray the childhood best friend of Scarlett (Clare Bowen) who also has dreams of becoming a star in Nashville. Rose has previously appeared on an episode of Anger Management and can be seen in the upcoming movie, 36 Saints.

The July edition of the ASCAP “We Create Music” Series was held on Wed., July 17 and featured songwriters Jacob Davis, Cale Dodds, Jesse Macht, Jared Scott and Scott Stepakoff, as well as Nashville-based a cappella group Street Corner Symphony.
