Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is in its ninth consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Songs chart. This sets a record for the most weeks at No. 1 on that chart by a female solo artist, surpassing Connie Smith’s eight-week run with “Once A Day” in 1964. “Never Ever” has sold more than 2.6 million downloads in the U.S.
About two months ago, Billboard revised the Country Songs ranking method “from core country radio audience to a digital, streaming, and expanded radio hybrid.” The chart was previously known as Hot Country Singles, based on radio airplay reports and single sales.
In more Swift chart news, her songs “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “State Of Grace” appear on the all-genre list of top selling digital tracks, but are not being counted on the Soundscan Digital Genre Country tracks chart, where her music typically charts.
MTV will world premiere Swift’s 23rd music video, the clip for “I Knew You Were Trouble,” at 4:40 p.m. ET on Thurs., Dec. 13, the singer’s 23rd birthday.
